DET STØRSTE I VERDEN
Synopsis
Petra drives på flugt af en rasende menneskemængde efter at have forlovet sig med ikke mindre end tre af hjembyens mest eftertragtede mænd. På flugten mod Kristiania havner hun på en præstegård, hvor en dansk provst og enkemand har søgt sit kald sammen med sin datter Signe. Hun lyver sig til en plads i den lille familie, og der opstår et inderligt venskab mellem Petra og Signe. Men fortiden indhenter Petra, og forholdet til Signe vakler, da det kommer for en dag, at de begge elsker den samme mand.
